What is it Like to Smoke Marijuana? The Effects of Cannabis.

Welcome to thegreengold.org, the cannabis for everyone site, where we provide a judgment free zone to learn and talk all about cannabis. Today, I am talking about, the feelings and effects of consuming cannabis. As always this is not medical advice and is written for educational purposes only.

If you are just starting your journey with cannabis, then you are probably wondering, what is it like to smoke marijuana? What effects will it have on me? Will I feel anything at all? There is a chance that you won’t. A small percentage of people actually don’t feel the effects of marijuana the first time they consume it. As I mentioned in an earlier article, “Marijuana for Beginners“, everybody’s cannabinoid receptors are different. This doesn’t mean cannabis doesn’t work for you. It just means you need to try it again and maybe a different kind or strain.

The Kinds of Marijuana.

Before we get into the effects of cannabis, I want to touch a little on the types of marijuana and how they affect you. For a more in depth explanation please visit my other article, “What is Indica and Sativa?“. That article will help you decide which kind and strain of cannabis is best for you.

There are two main kinds of marijuana, cannabis sativa and cannabis indica. Sativas are seen as an upper. Don’t let that scare you. It may be called an upper, but it’s still marijuana. The reason a lot of people like sativas, is that you can have the benefits of marijuana, but still feel the energy to do things.

Indica strains are popularly referred to as downers. Some of them will make you relaxed but creative, and some will help you sleep. Finally, there are hybrids. Hybrids tend to carry the effects of both strains combined. So, if you find sativas or indicas are too much, then try a hybrid, and see how you like that. A lot of people like hybrids because of their diversity. Again, I’d urge you to visit my other article, What is Indica and Sativa?“, to learn a lot more about the kinds of cannabis.

What Does Being High Feel Like?

Smoking or consuming cannabis to me has many uses, other than getting high. However, THC rich cannabis that can help you medically, can also get you high. Getting high, is what people call the cerebral effects that marijuana can cause. So, what does being high on marijuana feel like?

I wish this was black and white like alcohol. Alcohol, pretty simply, gets you drunk. Some get more drunk than others. Marijuana doesn’t work the same way. However, as discussed earlier there are 3 different categories of strains, and there are hundreds if not thousands of strains in each of them. Don’t let that overwhelm you though. Just take it slow, fallow my articles like the ones I’ve mentioned in this article, and you will find the right strain for you.

Generally speaking, being high on marijuana can make you feel silly, happy, relaxed, hungry, relieved, and I could go on. what it doesn’t do is make you feel crazy, or stagger, or affect your vision. It can actually help you focus on things. It can slow you and your mind down. So that you can process things around you more efficiently without overthinking. Marijuana can give you a mind vacation that doesn’t include losing control over your mind. Chances are, things will taste better, be more funny, or just feel better physically and mentally.

It Can burn sometimes.

The main piece of advice I would give you, is not to cheap out. As with most things, cheaper doesn’t equate to quality. In other words, if its it cheap, then it will probably be harsh. In my state medical marijuana is legal, and I have my medical card. The prices in the dispensaries here are pretty decent. I’m going to start with Flower prices.

Flower, is material that comes directly off the plant. It is then cured, ground, and then smoked. If you are just starting out and want to keep it smooth, then a good place to start is around 10 dollars a gram. You will usually get some pretty good and smooth stuff for this price. Side note, if you are just beginning, then try to find marijuana that is below 15% THC as well. There are some very strong strains out there, and I don’t want you to get scared off.

Carts and vapes, do they stink or burn?

carts and vapes can be very smooth, as well as burn too. The guidelines for these are the same but also a little different. To begin with again, price is a factor, for a one gram vape you want to spend at least twenty dollars a cart or disposable. That being said, I have gotten some really good stuff for 10 dollars a vape. However, they usually leak and clog up, causing waste of vape oil.

As far as THC goes in these, it is way higher. This is because these vapes have marijuana concentrate in them. Concentrates carry a much higher THC content. They usually range from 60% all the way up to 95% THC. So, take it slow on vapes, carts, and disposables. Look for vapes that contain closer to 60% THC, and that cost around 20 dollars or more. Chances are, you will have a smooth and enjoyable hit, without too strong of a high.

The word on the street is, these things don’t put off a smell. Is that true? Not entirely. The smell of cannabis vapes is very faint compared to the plant materials when they are burned. However, they do still have a very faint marijuana smell to them. So, still be careful when and where you consume these, people may still notice.

Hopefully this helped.

Whether smoking flower, or vaping concentrate from marijuana, just remember to take it slow and don’t cheap out. It can also be very helpful to talk to the budtender, and ask them questions. Usually, they can help you select the best strain for you. Don’t be afraid to tell them that you are new to this. They will probably be excited to help you figure out what works for you! Thanks again for reading! hopefully this helped, and feel free to leave me a comment or question below.
